Tamborine Mountain offers some of the best waterfalls you can see that are close to Brisbane.

The lush eucalypt forest surrounds the Curtis Falls, as the water tumbles down onto the basalt rocks. Find somewhere to watch the water and see if you find turtles, fish, eels, platypi, and some glow worms!

Only an hour’s drive away from the bustling city of Brisbane can take you to a beautiful rainforest where you can spend your day in nature.

Unfortunately, you are unable to swim at Curtis Falls due to platypi and glow worms. The platypus and glow worms call this part of the Tamborine National Park their home but thankfully there are other things you can do nearby.

What can I do around Curtis Falls?

The best time to view Curtis Falls is after some heavy rainfall, typically in the wet season. After you’ve taken a look at the waterfall, here are a few other things you can do or see.

Swimmings

If you fancy needing to go for a swim but can’t do so at Curtis Falls, lucky a short drive away you can at Cedar Creek Falls!

The waterfall has crystal clear waters and is the perfect way to cool off on a hot day. Enjoy relaxing in the plunge pool or experience a shower directly under the falls!

Hikings

Around Curtis Falls there are some great hiking trails. There is a shorter one kilometre trail that takes you down to see Curtis Falls and all the wildlife.

As you reach the waterfall, there is the lower creek circuit which will take about an hour to complete.

Tamborine Rainforest Skywalks

Discover more of this lush rainforest as you embark on the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk and feel like you’re on top of the world.

The walk is just over one kilometre and you’ll walk along the rainforest floor, climb across bridges, and even go as high as 40 metres! The bridges give you some breathtaking views as you stand high above the rainforest and the creek.

When you finish exploring the rainforest, check out the Rainforest Eco Gallery and see the different wildlife that live here. From the birds to reptiles, butterflies, and so much more. There is even some information on the Wangerriburras people’s history.

Grab a bite to eat or pick up a coffee at the Birdwing Cafe. Sit outdoors and enjoy overlooking the rainforest during your meal.

Glow Worm Caves

One of the most exciting parts about Mount Tamborine is the Glow Worm Caves! Experience seeing these mysterious worms glow in the caves.

The Glow Worm Caves are truly remarkable and are only a short drive from Curtis Falls! You can also book a tour and enjoy an incredible evening in Mount Tamborine.

To get the best out of your day, you can hire a car and explore Mount Tamborine to see all the main highlights. Better yet, book a one day Mount Tamborine tour and have an itinerary sorted for you!
