Discover the different things you can do in this picturesque area in Queensland.

About a 50-minute drive from the Gold Coast or over an hour’s drive from Brisbane is Tamborine Mountain. The beautiful lush region takes you away from the busyness of the city where you can see the rainforest, unique wildlife, incredible waterfalls, and so much more.

1. Spot the glow worms

Glow Worms

One of the best places to see the glow worms in Australia is in the Glow Worm Caves, nestled within Tamborine Mountain. As the glow worms are inside a cave, you can see them throughout the day.

It’s recommended you book in advance as there are limited time slots to enter the Glow Worm Caves.

2. Experience the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk

To see how beautiful Tamborine Mountain is, the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk is the best spot to go. Here you can do a short walk that takes you along the forest floor and through different levels of the rainforest.

Before you start your exploring, inside the Eco Gallery you can learn about the different wildlife in the rainforest. Then after you’ve done the Skywalk, grab a coffee and a bite to eat at the Birdwing Cafe.

3. Visit the unique plants at Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens

The Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens is a great way to see the different individual gardens and beautiful plants.

As you’re wandering around the Gardens, there are some sculptures and art to spot, including a giant dragonfly and the carved owl tree!

You can even enjoy a lovely picnic in the Gardens, so bring along some lunch or snacks that you can enjoy at the picnic tables or on the grass.

4. See the waterfalls

Tamborine Mountain has some stunning waterfalls to see. Some of the main waterfalls in the area include Cedar Creek Falls, Curtis Falls, and Witches Falls. The best time to see the waterfalls is after some heavy rainfall.

You’ll have to follow a short trail to reach the waterfalls, but we certainly think it’s worth it once you see it!

5. Wander down Gallery Walk

Visit Tamborine Mountain’s famous Gallery Walk, where there are over 60 stores. Here you can find everything from gift items to craft and little nick-knacks. There are even some cafes and places to fix the sweet tooth cravings you might have.
